While you may feel that a property owner is protecting you from danger (negligent security, inadequate security), it is often the case that property owners put profits over safety, and when that happens dangerous predators seize the opporunity to attack.
The attorneys at Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos & Lehrman have decades of experience handling negligent security, inadequate security and premises liability claims. Here are some of our recent significant results in negligent security cases:
$2,000,000 jury verdict for a patron who was attacked by another patron at All Stars Sports Bar & Grill. Our client sustained serious facial trauma including four missing teeth and a broken jaw, which will require multiple surgeries and bone grafting to repair.
$4,270,000 jury verdict for a teenager, with a promising football career, who was shot as he left Boomers! amusement park. As a result of the shooting, the bullet severed our client’s femoral artery and vein and while the life-saving surgery was an overall success, he sustained a permanent and painful nerve injury that ended his promising football career. We proved to the jury that the attack was foreseeable and preventable, and that Boomers! failed to adequately protect its patrons from criminal attacks.
$806,289.00 Jury Verdict for a bar patron who was violently attacked and left unconscious at Prince’s Beach Bar in Hollywood, Florida. On October 17, 2012, patron Michael Barnes was attacked and seriously injured by assailants using pool cues while inside Prince’s Beach Bar. As a result of the attack, Mr. Barnes suffered severe and permanent injuries. We proved that he was attacked as a result of Prince’s Beach Bar’s failure to provide adequate security on their premises. Multiple law firms had rejected this negligent security/premises liability case, but our firm had the experience, vision and wherewithal to proceed to jury trial with no previous offers.
Confidential settlement for two residents who were stabbed repeatedly at their apartment complex and who consequently suffered serious physical and psychological injuries as a result of the criminal attack.
Confidential settlement for a convenience store patron who was shot in face without provocation at point blank range. Our firm proved that the convenience store knew of its crowd control and crime problems, yet failed to take adequate precautions to protect its patrons.

Financial Abuse – Elderly Signing Assets Away ~ Attorneys Steve Jaffe and Mark Fistos have filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family members of the Audrey Miller Trust for tortious interference in estate planning. Weeks before Ms. Miller’s death, Cypress Cove at Healthpark Florida, Inc., got her to sign-over her trust making them the largest monetary recipient and left the family with close to nothing. While this case is still pending, a new USA Today article exposes this very serious issue. The article states, “They're weak, physically or mentally disabled or both, and often at the mercy of people they depend on the most: relatives and caretakers.” The article goes on to say, “They're the nation's fast-growing elderly population, and many are prime targets for abuse — physical, financial, sexual or emotional.”
